Become an Intuitive Eater

The EHL mission is to help clients break free from dieting for good. Science has proven that restrictive dieting and calorie counting overwhelmingly leads to negative results.

The majority of chronic dieters report feelings of shame, guilt, anxiety and low self-esteem when it comes to their eating habits and body image. 95% of diets result in weight regain, with 2/3 of dieters gaining more weight than they lost. Through this cycle of dieting our bodies are unable to find their natural place of rest, known as the set-point. Quite simply, dieting does not work.

Our Therapeutic Modalities

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) allows us to gain a deeper understanding of the learned workings of our mind and what drives our behaviours and decision making processes. The practice allows us to peel back the many layers of our thinking patterns and gain better insight into our core unconscious behaviours. NLP operates through the conscious use of language to bring about changes in someone’s thoughts and habits. The practice can help uncover and treat behavioural traits learnt from childhood as well as newly developed habits. NLP is particularly helpful when treating disordered eating by rewiring thoughts and language around food and lifestyle choices.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - Enhanced (CBT-E)

The practice of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – Enhanced (CBT-E) addresses and breaks down negative thought patterns and works on reframing these patterns to a more positive or neutral inner dialogue and narrative. CBT-E is based on the concept that thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are all interconnected. CBT-enhanced is specifically used for working with individuals who have eating disorders and is particularly helpful in stabilising eating patterns and addressing concerns about eating and body shape in a systematic way.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a self-help technique whereby an individual uses their fingers to gently tap on the body’s acupuncture points to relieve feelings of anxiety and stress. Oftentimes, negative emotions or past traumas get stored in our bodies. By practising EFT as a self-care strategy one can learn how to observe these emotions and cope in a constructive way which builds emotional resilience. This makes EFT a valuable tool for treating emotional trauma and subsequent disordered eating.
